
Almora is a cantonment town in Almora district in Uttaranchal. Almora is situated at an altitude of 1638 meters (5,500 feet) on a hill at the southern end of the Kumaon hills of the Himalayas.
In the form of a small hill in the form of a chair, surrounded by thick forests of pine and fur, which runs alongside the city are rivers oshi (Kaushik) and Suyal (salmale) and, moreover, the peaks snowfall in the Himalayas in the background. It is a vibrant activities, and has a rich cultural heritage and history. It is considered the cultural heart of the Kumaon region of Uttaranchal.
Most of the city lies on a mountain crescent shaped around 5 km long, and most of it is above 6000 feet. Unlike Shimla, Ranikhet and Nainital which were developed by the English, Almora is a hill station totally developed by the Indians. The city itself is its generally Hilltown full of people in northern India, but natural beauty is staggering. Almora is also called the city of temples. Located in the heart of the city is the temple of Goddess Nanda Devi. The mountain is visible from neighboring regions. Almora is an agricultural base and a trade center.

Jageshwar Temple – Jageshwar temple is a temple complex of 108 25kms Location Almora. The temples are surrounded by pine forests.
Rudreshwar Mahadev Temple – is one of the ancient temples in Uttaranchal. Located near the banks of river Ganga Ram Rudreshwar Mahadev temple is dedicated to Shiva. Rudreshwar Mahadev temple is just 10 km from Masi and Bhikyasen.
