What kind of hot compresses can be used in labor?
My lamaze instructor talked about soaking washcloths in hot water and applying to back in labor. Heating a sock filled with rice in the microwave, she said, can’t be done in the hospital (where only the 1st option will be available).
Is there any other way of applying heat (safely) to the back? Where can I buy those?

At the hospital I delivered at, they had heating pads, that ran with hot/warm water through them. I didn’t use it during labor, but I bet the nurses would let you if you ask.
