Why is the engine overheating?

I thought it was the thermostat so that it replaces. But keep saying I'm weak refrigerant but the tank is full. So apparently it does not, or not do this job. (?) I aa 95 Mercury Mystique. He had been working fine. I guess the Friday to get an oil change (which might be the problem) I'm really stuck, if the ideas or fixes would be great!
