I would like to make skim milk/fat free milk out of raw milk without heating it. Does anybody know how?
I am looking for a simple method or cheap machine I can do this with. I would also be willing to build a machine if somebody could explain to me what I need. As explained the milk is raw and not treated in any way.
Thanks for your help!
Raw or pasteurized the process would be the same.
What you need is a cream separator. There are cheap ones available for around 300.00 and upwards.
The easiest and cheapest way is to let the fresh milk sit undisturbed for 12 – 24 hours ( refrigerated, of course) and then to skim off the butterfat that rises to the top,
The widest mouth jar or even a pan works best as you can collect the butterfat from a large surface area.
